Haikus for Life
Wanted to try my hand at some haikus...this is what i came up with.
1.
Take a deep breath and do not look
For as surely as water flows from a brook
Love will come.
2.
Living in between lines and shades of gray
Confuses the heart, mind, & desires.
Man constantly second guesses himself daily.
3.
Steam. Eroticism. Lust. Pleasure.
These are the things I feel for you.
But it's not the feeling neither of us really wants.
4.
Purple bruises on brown bodies tells stories.
Of love unlimited & paint intended & unintended
& Concessions the skin never wanted to make.
5.
I looked for you the other day
& saw your shadow.
We never seem to see each other for who we truly are.
6.
Proverb for life
Find joy, create your own laughter
Be your own inspiration & draw your own life.
7.
Live your best life
Laugh at all your problems
Love those who love you back.

A little humor
I was sitting at the coffee house doing some reading and listening to the people around me...and this just started to flow....it seemed silly at first, but I just followed it...and turns out that this some of the most fun I've had writing a poem. Enjoy.
Satire for Child's Play
ooga ooga black booga ooga ooga
OUT
That's how it feels whne your wold is full of doubt
When skies are grey, there are no silver tinted clouds
You'll feel like ooga ooga black booga ooga ooga
OUT
Bubble gum bubble in a dish
How many pieces do you wish?
A wish for every passion
A wish for every dream
A wish for love's embrace and the orange summer's gleam.
1, 2, 3, 4
5, 6, 7, more
And when they criticize you OUT may you go
With a dirty dirty dish rag on your toe
Oooga ooga black booga ooga ooga
OUT
Look how fast the world has turned around
One day you're in then one day you're OUT
But you'll pick yourself up and on your way without a doubt.
oooga ooga black booga ooga ooga
IN!!!!

a "cant sleep" poem
this may be a little utopian for some....but it sounds nice at least.
ONE
could u claim me as a brother
even if we didnt share the same color (s)
could u see me as a friend
even if i chose another end?
funny
so many things defy and deny us
that which organically exists
and we often eliminate
that wish does not fall inde "the list"
names
ideas
affiliations
institutions
divisisions
so we live passing up the greatest friendships
we could ever give oursleves
embracing the greatest lies we could ever tell ourselves
that u have to be "just luke me" for to embrace u
value ur rich contribution to this space and life we all share
respect ur place in the same humanity in which we all exist
recognize in us all our most precious-human-gift
that which exposes and thrives off our connectedness
and because ignorance is bliss
we buy into the idea that we have to eat the same thing
believe the same dogmas
subscribe to the same truths
to be brothers
we believe that
we have to think the same things
experience the same changes
have the same words to say
to bond as sisters
but in that end what price do we pay?
souls and friends we will never know.
think on these things:
the greatest treasures we can find
are sometimes the ones we dont seek.
the greatest connection we all share
is our basic humanity
which unites us more than our minds divide.
we are brothers
we are sisters
we are spirits
we are
one
one grop of beings
who share the same earth
same resources
same music
same God
one
who are different
but all the same
one brotherhood
one sisterhood
one love
resting in many
residing as one.

GUESS WHO'S BIZACK?!
I remember how fun blogging used to be for me....so I'm back at it for now...check out my latest two pieces.
Stay Lifted & Be Free
Stay Lifted & Be Free
New Pieces
"I Could Call It The Element of Freedom, but I'll just be Free Instead"
Fear is nothing
God is everything
Like fresh water that chills me
Gives me life
And Peace
The Spirit of Love
Engulf every fiber of my being
Being conjoined with You
Baptized in hope
The cleansing away of defeat
No tears
Just
Love
You tell me, "Go deeper"
I fear, I step back
You plead to me, "Go deeper"
I fear, I step back
You tell me, "Go deeper, trust"
I trust You
Knowing that that is the first step towards liberation
The coolness of your love heals me
Inspires me
Gives me a new life
Freedom to live
Freedom to be who I am
Freedom to walk into what I will become
Freedom to rest assured
Knowing that you are with me
Freedom of having love
Freedom of feeling loved
Living in Love
Loving Freedom.
"Kiss the Sun"
Have you ever seen something that took your breath away?
That could see into the very depths of your soul?
The beautiful ones
Ones that you can feel without speaking
Without even knowing them
The ones that give you pain where an opportunity is missed
The ones that lighten up your life unconsciously
Ones that touch you like the sun kisses the sea
Two indescribable forces meeting in the distance
If only the two were to connect
Unbridled by the uncertainty of life
One's that you're willing to take arrows of humiliation for
Because their beauty far supersedes all that is desirable
The ones that make "love at first sight" seem realistic
The beautiful ones
If only they knew how beautiful they were to me
Beyond comprehension
You are my heart's extension
Of that deep-uncontrollable-longing feeling
That leaves me day dreaming
Of what could be
If only the beautiful ones only knew
How beautiful they were to me.
Fear is nothing
God is everything
Like fresh water that chills me

Happy Fathers' Day, Mom....
So today is fathers' day. Typically, this day is obsolete to me...it comes and goes, and I typically pay no attention to it...because if I do it forces me to think about the lack thereof....but I digress.
Today's blog is about something that I've always heard from several people...those who wish their mothers a Happy Fathers' Day. Some of these women have played exemplary roles in their children's life as single parents, and have tried to compensate for all of the voids left by the absence of a father figure...Some have struggled to the very core on almost every level, and several have led extraordinary lives bringing in the bread to the point where their children don't have lack for anything (my aunt is a a great example of this). These women unequivocally deserve all of the appreciation, love and honor they receive PLUS MORE. It is not easy to be a single parent and products of single parent homes oftentimes have a great affinity and alliegiance to their mothers.
However, this does not (for me at least) warrant for a mother be honored on both Mothers' and Fathers' day. In my opinion, even if women have held their homes together and ensured the success of their children, there is still a void left by an absentee father. I believe that wishing one's mother a Happy Fathers' Day is an acknowledgement of the pain, void, or resentment left by the absence of a father in the home. That right there to me shows me that no matter how great your mother was, there is still the pain of feeling abandoned, unwanted, unloved, etc. because Dad wasn't there.
Consider another scenario: Perhaps your father passed away when you were younger. Even though your mother assumed the role as the provider and protector of the family, for many there is still a longingness for Dad.
On the flip side --the fact that there are more persons than I can count who wish their moms Happy Fathers' Day shows a real problem within our community. In my family alone, there are so many young people who have been forced to figure out or construct their own sense of manhood and masculinity because their fathers were absent. And there are also many young women who deal with low self-esteem and accept BS from young dudes because they didn't have the validation of a present father. That's a real problem...and if there are any fathers out there reading this...raise your kids man. Point Blank.
For those of you who have also read this and still bestow the honor of Happy Fathers' Day to your mother...do you. I don't know the relationship you've had with your mother and it's not up to me to define it for you. This is merely my personal opinion....and I may never know the personal journey it may have been for you to get to the place you are. I do, however, salute you for overcoming overwhelming obstacles due to single parenthood and achieving success inspite of.
Happy Fathers Day to all of the men out there, whether it's fathers, grandfathers, uncles, mentors, pastors, etc. who are providing a father figure to several young men out here.....I salute you...and to the fathers who aren't.......Man Up.
Stay Lifted.
